Classic Rally event for those of us that would enjoy a drive "just up the road"

Sydney to London Classic Marathon Rally 2014
Entries are now open for the Sydney to London Classic Marathon Rally 2014; the event will start from Sydney Australia on 12th April 2014 and finish in London on 11th May 2014.
The rally will take 12 days to travel the 5500kms from Sydney to Perth in Western Australia (inclusive of one rest day in the Adelaide region) before being airlifted to Antalya in Turkey, from Antalya the rally then continues over 18 days and 6000kms to the UK and the finish in London (inclusive of one rest day in Rijeka on the Croatian Riviera), the stage mileage will be approx 2500kms for the 60 stages of the whole event and the Antonov Airlift is some 8000kms making a total distance of 22000kms.
The event is also offering the opportunity for competitors to only take part in either the Australian Leg or European Leg only of the event which may be more convenient for competitors who do not have the 30 days available to compete in the whole event, for further information please visit our website where the regulations and entry application form is available for download. www.transworldhistoricrallying.com

During the question and answer section of the evening several issues were raised and answered, two issues of particular concern to competitors were Licences and Servicing regulations, we have been in contact with CAMS regarding the Licence situation and information on this has been included in pre-event bulletin 1 (www.transworldhistoricrallying.com), also included is clarification on Servicing regulations.

Sydney to London Marathon 2014
Transworld Historic Rallying will be holding a Rally Forum / Information Day for the above Event at the National Motorcycle Museum in Birmingham UK, (M42 J6) on Sunday 14th October starting at 11am.

The day will be an opportunity for us to tell you about the Event and how the organisation is progressing. There will be ample opportunity for you to ask any questions that you may have.
There will also be some past competitors to tell you some stories of their experiences on previous events.
There will be film footage from the 2004 London-Sydney Marathon which will be shown whilst we partake in the (free) buffet lunch. We should also have a selection of cars on show from companies who have cars available for hire and sale and suitable for the Sydney to London event.

THE SYDNEY TO LONDON MARATHON RALLY

READY FOR TAKE-OFF!...
With 14 months to go, the organisers of The Sydney to London Classic Marathon Rally are pleased to announce that the first cargo plane, which will transport competitors’ cars to Turkey from the end of the Australian leg, is now full. With several people, who had previously expressed interest, recently confirming their intention to enter the event together with several new enquiries, the Organisers expect the second plane to become full before long.
In other breaking news, Hannu Mikkola and his son, Vesa, have joined the entry. Hannu competed on the 2000 London to Sydney Marathon with his other son, Juha, and returns to tackle the event in the opposite direction driving a Ford Escort RS1800.
Buy Back Deal: The Organisers have now put in place a buy-back deal for the Challenge Regularity Event, enabling entrants to fly into Sydney and pick up a BRAND NEW 4x4 vehicle ready-prepared for the event. The vehicle can be purchased for AUD $36,000, and it would then be bought back for AUD $22,000 at the end of the event in London.
The Challenge Event is for any suitable passenger car, including 4x4 recreational vehicles, licensed for use on the public highway, with a crew of up to 4 people. Entrants will normally follow the same route as the Competition Event and will have some regularity sections most days.
Entrants in both the Challenge and Competition Events can choose to do the whole route or opt for either the Australian or European legs only.
Service vehicles are now permitted with “basic” and “premium” options available. “Basic” includes identification plates, service book, road books, daily bulletins and access to official car parks, but with no air or sea transport or hotels provided.
“Premium” Service includes all of Basic Service plus hotels, air and sea transport for a crew of two.

Did you know that competitors can also opt to do just either half of the event, there is the Australian section from Sydney to Perth that will be 12 days of competition all on gravel and will consist of some classic stages and even a super special being planned, the scenery is also stunning across this fantastic country and not to be missed, we also have the rest day in the Barossa Valley region just north of Adelaide.
Then starting from Ankara in Turkey we spend a few days in Turkey before crossing into Europe and taking 17 days to make our way back to London, along the way we will have one rest day on the Croatian Riviera and a variety of stages in each country many of which made famous by rallies of the past or even more recently by the WRC.
This section will be mainly tarmac although there will be a few gravel and mixed surfaces just to make it a bit more exciting for everyone.
