Claude,
I have attached a pic of Dad next to his Chrysler Royal in the 1958 Mobilgas Trial. I have many shots of Dad. Worked for him early in the seventies at Bruce Mudd Cars (Peugeot). He was originaly known as Minto Murray but after the 1968 LSM he became "Milko" Murray. I believe that was as a result of milk board sponsorship. Hal Moloney |

Thanks Hal.
I was just a kid way back then, but I can still remember the workshop and showroom on the corner in High street..and the little used car yard down the road.... Maitland Motors (BRUJAK investments) and Jack Murray Prestige Cars... It's a small world these days isn't it ? Will have to catch up with you one of these days... Thanks so much for the photo. Regards. Claude Murray.

Hi Claude
I found your post by doing a search for your name thinking I would get information about your grandfather but maybe you can help. I am (very slowly) writing a family history which includes your gr-grandfather's story and all his 11 siblings. According to the Tarlington book 'Milko" and Gelignite Jack Murray were related unbeknown to them - is this so. Can you email me at dawesjm@gmail.com and I could let you know what I have already in the Charles Henry Marshall Murray (1863-1912) chapter. Regards Joan (Murray) Dawes Roseville NSW |

John Murray here Now living at Tweed Heads Good to see you are keeping the history of Australian rally days alive Slight correction to the above notes... Dad was predominantly known as Milko Jack going way back in the 50's when he was sponsored by the NSW Milk Board. Minto Jack was not a common name for him but I had heard it mentioned. The Milko tag stuck as you are aware well after the LSM (both of them) to differentiate between he and Gelignite. Wouldn't mind seeing some of the photos one day! Cheers John |
